The Tonight Show Starring Jay Leno
November 27, 2013

A week after Super Typhoon Haiyan I flew back to the US and took some time to recover from Super Typhoon Haiyan (known as Yolanda in the Philippines).  I was contacted by the Tonight Show while still in the Philippines about coming on.  I jumped at the opportunity to tell the story about what happend in the central Philippines.  So they flew me out to Los Angeles and the day before Thanksgiving we tapped the show.  I came out after Garth Brooks much to my dismay because nobody can top Garth - he's a mega star.  But it worked out just fine and Garth even leaned over during the 1st commercial break and chatted with me about storms.  He was such a nice guy.  Jay was great too.  He came in my dressing room before the show and (see me in a suit) said, "Hey, where's the swim suite?"  So I knew that was going to come up later.  They go over some topics Jay may chat about but you don't exactly know what's coming - I guess that's the fun part!  Jay is exactly as you seen him on TV - just a swell guy, very smart, and has a great crew of some of the best in the business that make it happen.  Loads of talent there - I was so impressed.  After the show Jay came back into my dressing room and said, "Jim, you did real good".  It's hard to watch yourself on TV cause you want to critique it too much but I think it came off pretty good and the best part was they turned it into fundraiser for the typhoon victims in the Philippines.
